The Yo Ki

The following is from an ancient Chinese manuscript called the Yo Ki. It explains what the ancient Chinese philosophers believed would happen to society if any of the five notes of the pentatonic scale, the basis of most Chinese music, were disturbed:

If Kong (C) is disturbed Disorganization is the result
If Shang (D) is disturbed Deviation is the result
If Kyo (E) is disturbed Unhappiness is the result
If Chi (G) is disturbed There is complaint
If Yu (A) is disturbed There is danger and resources will be lacking

Wind Records is a CD label specializing in recordings of Chinese music, based on the healing principals of ancient China. Further information can be found at this web site: Silver Lake Music
