The Sheetmusic Library
The
DoveSong Sheetmusic Library will
make available, at no cost, performance scores of important musical
works for use by choirs, singers, instrumentalists and
students.
Scores in the catalog will be in the form of .pdf files that
can be downloaded and and as many copies of the music printed
as is desired.
The Sheet
Music Library will contain three sections: Choral Music, Vocal
Music, and Instrumental Music. The Choral Music
Section will be the main section as it will contain music from
the DoveSong Sacred Music Project. The work on this project
began 1971 and continued until 1998. It consisted of placing
into modern notation, the great Roman Catholic sacred music of
the Renaissance and pre-Renaissance period, including
Gregorian Chant.
The future
direction of the library is to include sheet music and scores
from other cultures and traditions: Classical music from
India, China, Persia, shape-note music from the Southeastern
US, for example.
All works
made available in the Sheetmusic Library are in the public
domain, and will be free for use in any manner by any one.
